18th March 2014 – Dehli
Despite just 4 hours sleep its straight into it and meetings with EBTC , a motor manufacturer, and a distributor. A vegatable curry for lunch is possibly the first of many on this trip.
An insight into irrigation after a meeting with the UKTI dispells the myth that any progress can be made to improve irrigation in India. Indian farmers are paid by the volume of water they pump and do not pay for electricity so making irrigation efficient is counter productive as farmers will lose subsidies if they become efficient. At least I will waste no more time thinking of improvements to irrigation.
We upgraded to Club Class which was cheaper than standard class at the Hyatt so not only did we get unlimited food between 6.00pm and 8.00pm extra, but free merlot wine with a large glass which magically filled every time I drained it (thanks to a very kind waiter) – and all for £15 less! Leslie & Colin would love it here – maybe next time?
